Your Mental Health is Wealth

In simple words, if I have to define “mental health,” I would say it is the most significant aspect of our lives. It controls our emotions/moods (sadness, surprise, anger, happiness, loneliness, fear, and disgust).

Mental health controls our emotions and how we regulate and manage them. If we can regulate our emotions the way we want, then we can say our mental health is good. When we fail to regulate our emotions and become unable to control them in different situations, mental illness becomes evident.

Mental health isn’t a taboo; it is just that we don’t talk about it more often. We are too shy to share about our current mental condition, and we also worry about what others think.

Why is mental health so important ?

Mental health feels more significant today because modern life is dynamic and evolving every minute. The human brain evolved so much and everything has changed; now it’s running inside a 24/7 notification machine.

Our brains are processing stress signals every day, so let’s talk about the reasons behind it first. Our brains are overloaded with everything. We overloaded our brains with news, social media, self-image, worrying about small things, money, careers. And the constant consumption of worthless things.

Second, loneliness and exhaustion. Nowadays, we see people giving time to their family, friends, and loved ones. But deep down, it’s just a mask to show others they are an ideal family. They pretend to be together, but they are very far apart from each other. Even their own family doesn’t know about their condition; so loneliness is a major issue nowadays.

The third and most important one is growing mental issues and diseases. Stress, anxiety, nervous breakdown, trauma, addiction, and much more, and sometimes we ignore this, and it leads to something irreparable.

Now let me tell you why mental health is important; it is important because our brain is the king of our body.

A healthy brain lives in a healthy body, and directly or indirectly. Our habits and our environment impact our brain and lead to so many mental disorders. So we need a good mental state so we can focus on things that truly mean something to us. We are stressed, depressed, and anxious, we can’t achieve anything except hopelessness. So we need a healthy body and a healthy mind if we want to achieve something meaningful in our lives.

Why are we facing mental health problems nowdays?

As you know, nowadays people are very busy in their day-to-day lives. They don’t have any time for anything, not even for their own self, family, or friends.

They disconnect from the social circle. Humans are naturally social animals, and alone we are lost. So we need a social group, even if it’s very small, but nowadays everything is online, and people spend most of their time on social media, virtual chatting, and playing online games all day.

What are the major reason of mental health issue?

When they are with their family and friends, they are mentally present in their online realm, and that’s where everything starts. We don’t find hanging out with friends interesting anymore. Our dopamine spikes when we see reels and short content, so we feel hanging out boring and useless.

So slowly as we disconnect from our family, friends, and loved ones, we get addicted to cheap dopamine like doom scrolling and watching useless things all day. It consumes our whole day, then whole week, then whole month, and in the end, whole year. When we realize what we lost, it’s already too late to go back and change what we did.

We regret our every single decision, and now real problems start to surface. First attention, our minds get triggered by notifications; our brains feels that we need phone in our hands every second.  And then, we don’t get the attention we want, we become desperate experience Fomo and then suddenly fall into depression and stress every time.

Our mental health is imbalanced now because of our dependence and lack of limitation on our usage of devices, and we slowly, slowly start to compare ourselves with others, and we just blame what we did and still don’t think about what we can do. We just make a box around us and think this is the end, and that is the major reason why people are suffering from mental health issues.

What is our brain, and how does it work?

The most powerful organ in our body is the brain. Our brain is also the most complex object in the universe. It keeps evolving with the passage of time. Our brain is powerful because it adapts to things, connects our whole body, and works efficiently.

Our brain contains neurons (nerve cells), and neurons can connect to thousands of other neurons that make a web that helps us process anything at an unbelievable pace.

Neuroplasticity is the ability to rewire the brain and also change the way our brain was before. It is a superpower of our brain. Computers have hardware, and rewriting them is tough, but our brains are like plastic; give them a shape that you want.</p>

Our brain is like a combination of a supercomputer, but it doesn’t take a lot of energy to run; it processes information through millions or billions of neurons and cools down at the same pace.

Why are we facing Mental Issues Nowdays?

Just as we saw earlier, the brain is extremely malleable; just like plastic. We can mold it by means of our thoughts, actions, and experiences. Some types of mental illnesses arise due to alterations in the neurons and neural paths. They need to be treated professionally by medical experts.

But most mental ailments emerge due to our regular behaviors. The environment in which we were raised and currently reside, friends and colleagues, and relationships we maintain. This influences the working of our mind all the time. In case our lives are such that these things positively impact us, we remain mentally healthy individuals.

But in the case where they negatively impact us, we suffer from mental illness. If we have parents who make us act against our will throughout our childhood, we may become nervous, upset, and angry. Bullying at schools, destructive friendship, and hostile environments can mold our mind in a way that we experience various types of emotions. And when all of these happen, they can lead to some major mental illnesses that can prove to be extremely detrimental to our personality.

How Realtionship Impacts Our Mental Health?

If you are having a toxic relationship and your partner always blames you and compares you with others, you mostly live in stress, and it impacts your work life and hea

lth. Humans are social animals, and we started to disconnect ourselves from others, since social media came to light, and the rate of lonely people has increased drastically.

The fame-gain culture, where everyone wants to be famous now, is trending. Every single person you know is online; everyone is active on social media. You will see kids and young adults active and playing different games only in the virtual world, not in the park. Nowadays, people also suppress their emotions, and once emotions are captured inside the body and mind, they have no way to release them. So all of these factors lead to mental disorders like ADHD, stress, anxiety, phobias, and other severe diseases as well.

NOW THE BIGGEST QUESTION ARISES: HOW CAN WE TACKLE THIS SITUATION AND LIVE A HEALTHY LIFE WITH A HEALTHY BRAIN? NO NEED TO WORRY; I’VE GOT YOUR BACK HERE, SO NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT HOW WE CAN OVERCOME ANY MENTAL DISORDER AND LIVE A HAPPY AND FULLER LIFE.

How to overcome mental issues?

Overcoming mental disorders/issues is not one day’s work or a miracle. We have to work on our betterment continuously. Consistency matters more than one day of vague motivation. Motivation is nothing in front of our one baby step every day toward changing our current mental health condition.

The first step to overcome it is to understand or accept the fact that we have a mental condition, by which we can figure out the ways our issues, like anxiety or panic attacks, are triggered, and then we can move on to the next s

The next step is to talk about it with our trusted one because when we share what we’re going through, we feel less burdened on our hearts and mi

nds. Third, we can start taking therapy. I know this sounds like being a mental patient in a hospital, but directly or indirectly getting therapy releases our hidden or locked emotions in our minds, and when we talk to a professional counselor about this, they treat us the way we need.

Last but not least, medication. I know this sounds like why we need to eat medicine and all for mental issues, but it is true sometimes medication helps us get rid of our mental issues faster than anything, and yes, medication does have some side effects, but it’s a way you can calm your mind and slowly reduce the mental issues.
