The Legend of Jeetu Bagadwal
Jeetu Bagadwal one of the most prominent and famous figure withiout mentioning about him the Khait Parvat story is incomplete. Jeetu Bagadwal was a very innocent farmer and shepherd. He village knew him for his innocence and playing the flute very beautifully. So, Jeetu was on his way to his sister’s in-laws’ home to bring her back for the Rupai (sowing) season; locals believe that if a daughter of the house performs the first sowing, the harvest turns out exceptionally well. Jeetu was making his way along the mountain path, playing his melodious flute.
Unknowingly, he attracted a fairy who came to him; she was so captivated by the melody of his flute. That she cast a spell to take him away with her. However, Jeetu invoked his deity, Bhairav Devta, and managed to escape her spell. Then, the fairy approached him again, asking him to accompany her to her realm. Jeetu declined at the time, explaining that he first needed to bring his sister back from her in-laws’ home and complete the paddy planting in his fields.
Promising to go with her afterward. The fairies granted him a three-month reprieve, but Jeetu forgot his promise. One day, while he was ploughing his fields, the fairies returned, reminded him of his vow, and took him—along with his oxen—away to their realm.
